  • David Tobin, MSN, PMHNP-BC, is an experienced psychiatric nurse practitioner serving patients at Pure Psychiatry of Michigan. David’s background in psychiatric care equips him with the skills and evidence-based interventions to care for individuals experiencing anxiety, depression, and other potentially serious mental health concerns. After earning his bachelor’s degree in biological sciences with honors from Wayne State University in Detroit, Michigan, David enrolled in Hanover, New Hampshire’s prestigious Dartmouth College for a master’s in genetics. David later returned to Wayne State University to earn his bachelor’s degree in nursing, eventually pursuing his master’s in nursing at the renowned Duke University in Durham, North Carolina. Throughout his educational pursuits, David has received many awards and accolades, including the Nursing Excellence Award in emergency medicine from Ascension Providence Hospital. He was also a member of the Sigma Theta Tau International Honor Society of Nursing, Lambda Chapter. David is featured in numerous publications and medical journals for his extensive research in genetics. With a dynamic approach to care and a passion for patient well-being, David looks forward to making a meaningful impact in treating and supporting his patients' mental health needs.

  • Dayna Fabrey, PMHNP, is a board-certified psychiatric-mental health nurse practitioner and registered nurse at Pure Psychiatry of Michigan. She provides high-quality, individualized care to all her patients. Dayna received her Master of Science in Nursing (MSN) from Walden University, a private online university with headquarters in Minneapolis, Minnesota. She has completed over 600 clinical hours and has sound experience diagnosing, treating, and managing adolescents and adults with anxiety, depression, psychosis, PTSD, ADHD, insomnia, and more. Dayna is dedicated to providing top-quality, compassionate care in a friendly, non-judgemental atmosphere. She strives to provide a place of comfort and peace where her patients can build trusting relationships in a judgment-free environment. She follows evidence-based guidelines for treatment while recognizing each patient’s unique and individual needs. She encourages input and advocates for patients to be hands-on in their treatment process.

  • Board-certified psychiatric nurse practitioner Gwendolyn LaCroix, PMHNP, is proud to provide mental health services to patients of all ages, from 5-99 years of age. Gwen works out of the Monroe, Michigan, office of Pure Psychiatry of Michigan. Gwen was educated both in England and the United States and completed her Master's degree at Wayne State. She was a paramedic for the City of Detroit for many years before becoming a nurse in the psychiatric inpatient setting and then a nurse practitioner. Gwen has a passion for mental health, and she loves working with children, teens, adults, and older adults. As a nurse practitioner, Gwen has gained vast experience in partial hospitalization, substance use disorder treatment, and outpatient settings. She offers both medication management and therapy in various modalities based on her patients' needs.

    Her special interests include obsessive-compulsive disorders, bipolar disorders, depression, schizophrenia disorders, personality disorders, and grief. She is also passionate about working with children and adolescents.

  • Daniel Grasso, DNP, BA, APRN, PMHNP-BC, is a dedicated Psychiatric-Mental Health Nurse Practitioner at Pure Psychiatry of Michigan, where he provides comprehensive psychiatric care to patients. With a wealth of experience and a strong educational background, Dr. Grasso is committed to delivering high-quality mental health services.

    Dr. Grasso holds a Doctor of Nursing Practice (DNP) from Maryville University, specializing in Psychiatric-Mental Health. During his doctoral program, he completed clinical experiences in various outpatient psychiatric settings, gaining valuable expertise in medication management and psychotherapy. He also holds a Bachelor of Science in Nursing from The University of Michigan-Flint and a Bachelor of Arts in Spanish Language from the same institution. Since completing his education, Dr. Grasso has undergone extensive professional training, including certifications in Continuous Renal Replacement Therapy, Advanced Cardiac Life Support, and Basic Life Support from the American Heart Association. He is an active member of several prestigious professional associations, including the American Association of Nurse Practitioners, the American Nurses Association, and the American Psychiatric Nurses Association.

    With an unwavering commitment to providing the best care possible, Dr. Grasso is licensed as a Registered Nurse in Michigan and is board-certified as a Psychiatric-Mental Health Nurse Practitioner. In addition to his clinical expertise, Dr. Grasso is fluent in both English and Spanish, facilitating effective communication with a diverse range of patients. He is experienced in delivering compassionate psychiatric care to child, adult, and geriatric patients. He specializes in conducting cognitive dysfunction assessments and has extensive experience in managing conditions such as dementia, schizophrenia spectrum disorders, mood disorders, attention deficit hyperactivity disorder, autism spectrum disorder, mood disorders, anxiety disorders, and complex medical comorbidities.

  • Harrison Long, PA-C, is a board-certified physician assistant serving patients, ranging from adolescents to the elderly, at Pure Psychiatry of Michigan. He works out of the practice's Wyandotte, Wixom and Plymouth, Michigan offices. Harrison completed his Bachelor of Science at the University of Michigan in Ann Arbor. In 2020, he earned his Master of Science in physician assistant studies from the University of Detroit Mercy in Detroit. Harrison has experience evaluating and treating patients in home and clinical settings. He treats various conditions, including anxiety disorders, ADHD, PTSD, depression, bipolar disorder, and schizophrenia. Harrison entered the field of psychiatry to make a difference where it's most needed. He believes the importance of one's mental health remains undervalued in society and is, unfortunately, stigmatized to this day. Harrison hopes to slowly change that perspective by providing a fine-tuned, empathetic, and safe approach to treating his patients.

    At Pure Psychiatry of Michigan, Harrison takes a patient-oriented approach to care. He hopes this approach will show others who may be reluctant to seek help that it is an easy choice.

  • James received his Masters of Science in Physician Assistant Studies from Wayne State University in 2002. Prior to that he received a Masters in Public Health from Emory University in 1997. Jim treats clients of all ages and backgrounds at Pure Psychiatry of Michigan in Wyandotte, Plymouth and Wixom, MI. He prefers a goal centered approach to treatment and believes in a collaborative process between client and provider.

  • Justin Remsing, PA-C, is a board-certified physician assistant specializing in adult and pediatric psychiatry. Justin received his Bachelor of Science in Christian Ministry from Rochester University in Rochester Hills, Michigan. He then pursued a certified emergency medical technician (EMT) certification at Oakland Community College in Oakland County, Michigan, achieving recognition on the Dean's List for his exemplary performance. After graduation, Justin furthered his education at the University of Detroit Mercy in Detroit, Michigan, where he earned a master’s degree in physician assistant studies. While there, he also served as a volunteer coordinator for the William Beaumont Society. Justin's passion for medicine led him to complete a preceptorship in internal medicine at Troy Beaumont Hospital in Troy, Michigan. When he isn’t helping patients manage mental health conditions like anxiety, depression, and post-traumatic stress disorder (PTSD), Justin enjoys giving back to his community. He actively participates in community service, including tutoring and mentoring underprivileged children in Detroit's Brightmoor neighborhood. Justin helps organize a summer day camp and youth-focused service projects, and contributes to initiatives supporting homeless individuals at South Oakland Shelter in Royal Oak and God's Helping Hands in Rochester Hills. Justin looks forward to helping people of all ages navigate their mental health journeys with compassion and expertise.

  • Kaila received her Master’s of Science in Physician Assistant Studies and Wayne State University. Upon completing her masters she gained experience as an internal medicine physician assistant until she transitioned into psychiatry full time with experience in outpatient and inpatient services. She works with various populations including children, teens, and adults. Kaila strives to provide an experience in which the patient is involved and educated in the decision making process. In order to provide the best care she wants her clients to feel that all questions and concerns were addressed at each appointment.

  • Sarang Patel, PA-C, is a board-certified physician assistant providing family-oriented, customized psychiatric care at Pure Psychiatry of Michigan. As a licensed physician assistant, Sarang can prescribe medications and diagnose mental health disorders of all kinds. Sarang completed his academic years at the University of Detroit Mercy in Detroit, Michigan. He received his undergraduate degree in biology and master’s degree in physician assistant studies. Since graduation, he has accumulated psychiatric experience in several areas, such as community mental health and geriatric psychiatry.

    In his current position, Sarang frequently diagnoses patients with common conditions like depression, anxiety disorders, ADHD, and bipolar disorder. He also coordinates medications for these issues and can direct patients to counseling or therapy for trauma, relationships, and other purposes.

    Sarang believes that a judgment-free zone is crucial for mental health and strives to develop long-standing patient-provider partnerships with his patients. He strives to customize every patient’s treatment plan according to their individual needs and personal preferences.

  • Taylor Hennrick, PA-C, is a dedicated physician assistant on the team at Pure Psychiatry of Michigan. Taylor was a collegiate athlete, competing in Track & Field while majoring in Biology. Following undergrad, he went on to finish his Master’s Degree in Physician Assistant Studies at the University of Detroit Mercy. He worked for three years in Internal Medicine at the Detroit Medical Center before finding his true calling in Mental Health.

    Since completing his physician assistant program, Taylor has been fortunate enough to work all over Southeast Michigan, providing care to people of all social backgrounds, ethnicities, and ages. He takes true joy in working closely with his clients and helping them get through difficult times. He specializes in adult and adolescent psychiatry, practicing careful pharmacotherapy. He firmly believes in the conjunction of psychotropic medications and psychotherapy leading to positive outcomes for his clients.

    Taylor welcomes patients of all ages, starting as young as six years old.

  • Abigail Schellhammer, AGNP, is an experienced nurse practitioner with a background in mental health care, primary care, and gerontology. Abigail helps individuals struggling with insomnia, eating disorders, anxiety, and other mental health concerns. Abigail completed her associate degree in nursing at Lansing Community College in Lansing, Michigan. She then pursued a bachelor’s in nursing at the University of Michigan-Flint in Flint, Michigan, where she was a member of the Golden Key International Honour Society. Abigail earned a master’s in nursing with a focus on adult/gerontology care at Michigan State University in East Lansing, Michigan. Her academic accomplishments and hands-on experiences equip her to deliver comprehensive care to people of all ages. Abigail proudly employs the most up-to-date, evidence-based interventions at Pure Psychiatry. She welcomes the opportunity to meet new patients and help them along their mental health journeys.

  • Karen is a Board-Certified Nurse Practitioner who received her Bachelors of Science in Nursing from Madonna University in 2000, her Masters of Science in Nursing from Wayne State University in 2010, and her Post Masters Certification in Nursing from Wayne State University in 2011. Karen has extensive experience in Mental Health, Emergency Medicine, and Pediatrics. She provides high quality patient centered care to various populations including school age children, adolescents, adults, and cognitively impaired throughout the lifespan. She provides in depth education and a treatment regime tailored to each patient she treats. Karen's specialties include preventative medicine, integrative medicine, disease education, ADHD, ODD Depression, Mood Disorders, Adjustment Disorders, Anxiety, PTSD, Bipolar, and Schizophrenia.

  • Adam Blanton, MSN, APRN, FNP-C, is a family nurse practitioner with over eight years of experience. Adam provides comprehensive care for individuals experiencing signs of post-traumatic stress disorder (PTSD), depression, insomnia, and other mental health concerns. Adam has served as a First Lieutenant in the United States Army for nearly two decades. He earned his bachelor’s degree in nursing from Eastern Michigan University in Ypsilanti, Michigan, before enrolling in Spring Arbor University in Spring Arbor, Michigan, for his master’s degree. While in school, Adam also earned his firefighter certificate at Wayne County Community College in Taylor, Michigan. Since earning his advanced psychiatric nurse practitioner degree, Adam has been dedicated to delivering compassionate care and supporting individuals in managing mental health challenges. His skills include medication management, acute care, and critical care. Adam strives to build an easy rapport with every patient to ensure seamless collaboration and foster an environment of trust and comfort.

  • Emily Rachal is a board-certified family nurse practitioner that specializes in mental health. Emily received her Bachelor of Science in Nursing from Madonna University in Livonia MI. Following graduation, She worked as a nurse in the areas of med-surg, women's health, emergency room, mental health, and labor and delivery. While working as an RN, she went on to earn her Master's of Science in Nursing. Upon graduation Emily began working in mental health where she has been for the past 6 years.

  • Heather received her Bachelor’s of Arts in anthropology from DePaul University in 2013 and her Master’s of Social Work from the University of Southern California in 2015. Heather has experience in both short and long term psychiatric hospitals, as well as in home care and hospice. Heather utilizes various treatment modalities including Cognitive behavioral therapy (CBT), Acceptance and commitment therapy (ACT), and other approaches as needed to help each unique individual meet their goals. She works with a variety of populations, including teenagers, adults of all ages, and individuals across the gender and sexuality spectrum. Heather collaborates with clients to identify their values and utilizes a person centered, strengths based treatment approach to help clients meet their goals. She employs a holistic perspective that incorporates all facets of the client’s life and identity into the therapeutic process. Heather strives to provide compassion and empathy to each of her clients, and she considers it a privilege to work with people in this capacity.

  • Robin received her Master’s in Clinical Behavioral Psychology from Eastern Michigan University in 1992. She has over 30 years’ experience working in both outpatient psychiatric clinics and community mental health settings with adolescents and adults. Robin provides a collaborative, person centered approach to treatment that focuses on improving the overall quality of a person’s life. It is essential to provide a safe, inviting atmosphere and build trust and rapport with each client, allowing them to express themselves openly without judgment. Robin has been trained in a various methods of treatment, including Cognitive Behavioral Therapy, Mindfulness, Trauma Informed Care and Person-Centered treatment. However, it is her belief that an individual’s treatment should be based on their specific strengths and individualized needs, therefore, she utilizes an eclectic approach based on the goals identified by the client.
